The flagship scientific collaboration program at Siemens is called the Siemens Research and Innovation Ecosystem (RIE). Siemens RIE gives Siemens access to cutting-edge research and a highly qualified talent pool. In turn, the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg can carry out research projects with practical relevance, opening up important career opportunities for students.
For this reason, the Siemens RIE program creates an intensive dialog between the academic and industrial worlds. At the Siemens RIE office, a Siemens-funded expert on site (Siemens RIE manager: Ann-Kathrin Wenzel) manages the partnership in constant exchange with a dedicated team of Siemens experts (Karin Bruendl and Constanze Welter) for research and talent acquisition. We are particularly proud to say that at the management level, Roland Busch from Siemens top management maintains personal dialog with the Siemens RIE director and university administration.
Fixed research contracts with FAU invite launching new research projects easily, unbureaucratically and quickly.
Partnership CCT – Projects
Siemens wants to be at the cutting edge of several important technology, they called Corporate Core Technologies (CCT). In fact, the CCTs have been determined to be critical for Siemens long-term success. This is the reason why FAU supports these fields with experts. In that way, Siemens and FAU R&D efforts are bundled and joint exchange is promoted.
Highlight Projects
Through a close network of experts, FAU and Siemens have been connected for many years, and it is based on a trusting cooperation. Joint research activities include additive manufacturing, blockchain, data analyst, materials science and power electronics.
